Who We Are

The Mwelu Foundation is a community-based organization situated in Mathare, an economically disadvantaged area in Nairobi, Kenya. Established in 2007, the foundation's primary objective is to empower young individuals in Mathare through various mediums, including photography, filmmaking, educational outreach, and other forms of media. These initiatives are designed to address social challenges and facilitate opportunities for self-expression and personal development.

The integration of a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) program into the Mwelu Foundation's offerings could prove to be highly advantageous, particularly given the barriers that many young people encounter in obtaining accurate information and resources related to sexual health in underserved communities.

This program could be structured to educate and empower the youth of Mathare on critical subjects such as sexual health, consent, interpersonal relationships, and reproductive rights, thus enhancing the foundation's existing mission to promote and support the overall well-being of young people.
